The plot centers around dead bodies that turn up in the vacant lot of the bail bonds business. This installment in the series was more of the same, not much changing. The romance dynamics between Ranger, Morelli, and Stephanie was pretty much the same too, with Stephanie trying to decide between them. Smokin' Seventeen, by Janet Evanovich. That goes double for the men, not one single scene of substance! All her characters are just going through the motions. Despite Stephanie's sluttiness, I enjoyed the change of pace in this book.

Once Morelli and Ranger enter this story, it finally starts to pick up. But then the bodies start turning up. They set everything up She even wonders if Morelli is sleeping around and acknowledges how upset she would be if that were the case.
I shy away and that sucks! View all 6 comments. Dave cooks and Stephanie likes food. In the past Stephanie has always made a very diligent effort to not cheat.
I honestly feel that at this point the relationship with Morelli has been so very destroyed, plus the character of Morelli has been cut up pretty bad, that she really needs to make a clean break with that relationship at least for a few books while she and Ranger try to make an honest go of it. I'm a fan of your work, have been for years.
I'm gonna take my friends' advice and "Take it for what it is! Evanoovich you think your fans will stop reading if she chooses to stay with ONE of the men, they won't. Initially I thought the problem was that I read the earlier novels in quick succession and that led to burnout.
Just thankful I got this from the library. The penultimate drama is weak. Lists with This Book.

Swventeen series used to be fun, seventewn fluff, but it's wearing thin. I just don't care anymore. Taking a shower while some stranger is in your house cooking? Yet, I'm supposed to believe these men are clambering for a chance to roll in the hay with her? I recommended these books to patrons and to friends and I anxiously awaited the next Stephanie Plum book.
Thanks for telling us about the problem. Short on time to find the murderer, Stephanie is also under pressure from family and friends to choose between her on-again-off-again boyfriend, Trenton cop Joe Morelli, and the bad boy in her life, security expert Ranger. Mom figures she just needs to expand her dating pool and sets up a blind date [over dinner, of course] with Dave Brewer. However, this book was worlds better than the last 4.
The usual formula is in full force, but without much of the charm of previous books. The cover blurb was so promising on this installment, I actually allowed myself to get my hopes up. Don't make us hate her.
